Join the lab

We take PhD and MSc students from biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, physics and computer science, and undergraduates for research projects.

Open positions

  • PhD and MSc studentsOpen all year

We welcome applications at any time from students in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, computer science and related fields. Graduate admissions follow the university’s application rounds; write to us first and we will help you with the timing.

  • Postdoctoral researchersOpen all year

We are always glad to hear from postdoctoral researchers in holography, quantitative phase imaging, computational imaging or optical instrumentation, and to prepare fellowship applications together, for example TÜBİTAK 2232 or Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships.

What you will do

You will build optical setups on the bench and write the reconstruction code that turns their raw data into measurements. Most projects combine optics, electronics and programming with a biological or medical question, and most end in a paper with your name first.

What helps

Comfort with Python or MATLAB, some Fourier optics, and curiosity about biology. You do not need to know everything on day one; we will teach you the rest.

How to apply

  1. Write to us with your CV, your transcripts and a few lines on what you would like to work on.
  2. Apply formally to a graduate programme at Istanbul Medipol University, with ALES or GRE scores, an English qualification and reference letters.
  3. Shortlisted candidates have a video interview with us.

Accepted graduate students can receive tuition waivers and merit scholarships through the graduate programmes in Biomedical Engineering and Bioinformatics, and in Electrical-Electronics Engineering and Cyber Systems.

Undergraduates at Medipol can join through graduation projects and TÜBİTAK 2209-A research projects; see what earlier teams built on the research page.
